About the Nursery ...
The 3 hectare nursery has been one of the horticultural instruction facilities of the Merrist Wood Campus since its establishment in the late 1940's. From the late 60's the nursery has concentrated on growing hardy nursery stock in containers and the open ground as a teaching resource for students taking a wide range of courses. The nursery is run as a wholesale business, with surplus plant material being offered on a cash and carry basis. Though the range and numbers of plants available may be limited from time to time, the nursery often has species that are less common that attract our main customers - garden contractors.
